I like Festivals!
My first San Francisco Blues Festival was in 1992. It was amazing, Tom Mezzolini treated me like a king with press credentials and a photo pass for two days. I went again in 1995. The image that I didn't take would have been an amazing one but it would have shattered the moment. I'll describe it as best I can here. John Lee Hooker was the headliner, and security was tight. I had a photo credential and was n the photographer's pit when for some reason I decided to slip out behind the stage. I didn't take my camera... when I turned the corner there was John Lee seated with Jimmy Rogers, just the two of them mind you and they were hooting and laughing like to school boys. I stayed and watched but for a minute. I never told anybody that they were back there. It's an image that is etched indelibly in my memory.
