Etta James

There was a period in the early 1980s when the greatest musicians would come to town when the audience would be thin. Etta James played a lot in this area, and to me she was a big star. We would go to see and hear her every time she played at Nightstage, yet another great club located in Central Square in Cambridge. The dance floor was small but never so crowded that we couldn't find room to sway to the beat. Both At Last and I'd Rather Go Blind would get us up out our seats and we would be quite literally at her feet. I always fet her eyes upon me, thinking she was singing to me only. Or it could have been that my girlfriend at the point in my life was 5" taller than me

Either way, those night were amazing.
